Information for Media Correspondents
- Press and Media representatives bringing into Mexico professional equipment exceeding items allowed as luggage free of import taxes for tourists must obtain a “Correspondent visa” at any Mexican embassy or consulate. Media representatives will prepare a list of the said professional equipment, which a Mexican diplomatic office will need to certify/stamp.
- Media Correspondents can apply for a visa at any Mexican Consulate or Embassy. Delegates shall submit personally or send through a third person or institution the following documents:
- Application form, duly completed, signed (in original), and with clear fingerprinting. (visa application form).
- Valid passport in original, with at least one empty page to place the visa sticker.
- One front view passport picture, in color.
- A print-out of the confirmation email of accreditation issued by the online registration service of the UNFCCC Secretariat .
- Copy of the letter of assignment on official letterhead of a media organization signed by the Publisher/Assignment Editor, Editor-in-chief or Bureau Chief, specifying the name and functional title of the applicant journalist.
- If bringing into Mexico any, list of the professional equipment, which the Mexican diplomatic office will need to certify/stamp. That list must include the following information for each item: description, serial number, brand, country of origin and approximate price in U.S. dollars. Example: Video camera, Sony S-600 PRO, NO.126549854, made in Japan, US $1,500.00
- Delegates of States Parties requiring a Mexican visa residing in a country where there is no Mexican Embassy or Consulate may:
- Send original documentation to a third person residing in a country where there is a Mexican Embassy to apply for the visa and return the passport with the visa to its holder.
- Go to the visa issuance office at the Mexican Permanent Mission before International Organizations in Geneva, Switzerland, or send passports and required documents through their missions in Geneva. For further information on this office please visit: http://mision.sre.gob.mx/oi/ (Only spanish)
- Attend personally any Mexican representative office in order to obtain their visas during a stop-over in their trip to Mexico.
Note: No visas will be issued at any Mexican port of entry.
