General overview
The future of the Kyoto Protocol, scientific evolution and the need to take firm steps in the matter, were the main issues that the Mexican delegation, headed by Ambassador Luis Alfonso de Alba Góngora, special representative for climate change, addressed in press conference in the Solar room of the Moon Palace building, site of the United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP16/CMP6) in Cancun, Mexico.
In the Cancunmesse convention center, members of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and Mexico’s National Commission of Protected Natural Areas (CONANP) presented the Spanish edition of Natural Solutions, which details how natural reserves protect biodiversity, shelter drinking water and reduce the overall levels of greenhouse gases by capturing and storing carbon dioxide.

In the 6th Forum on Sustainable Development: Concrete Actions on Climate Change, the Air Brigade for Environmental Security and the Germplasm National Center presented their project, supported by FAO, which is to create a fleet of between 8 and 10 airplanes to bomb with seeds sites that need reforestation.
The Foundation on Sustainable Development opened the Environmental Film Summit at Polyforum Benito Juárez, in the Climate Change Village. This summit will feature documentaries and short films in 4 cities of the Riviera Maya.
Representatives of various indigenous peoples of Latin America were the first guests of the day to the Climate Change Village in Cancun, Mexico. They said they also have proposals to combat climate change.
Mother Earth, Rieleros del Norte, Poder del Norte, Sonora Dinamita and Booby Pulido were responsible for entertaining and star in the musical show for those present at the Grand Forum on the Climate Change Village.
