Vocal Music Group of SEMAR entertains at COP16
Traditional melodies played at Pavilion Mexico
With the rhythm of México lindo y querido, the Vocal Musical Group of the Mexican Ministry of the Navy- Army (SEMAR) performed at the Pavilion Mexico, at the venue Cancunmesse. In front of many people, the five musicians sang, played and danced some of the most popular Mexican songs at the COP16.
Also known as the GMV8 and founded in 1945, at the beginning it was just a string ensemble, but with time other voices and instruments were added to consolidate as the musical group of the Ministry of the Navy.
“We feel very proud that we were invited to participate and play some music” said Héctor David Quiñones Quiñones, Lieutenant of corvette and principal voice of the group.
Events like this bring the cultural side of the Ministry of Navy, stated Martin Salvador Gonzalez Arcique, Captain of corvette at the service of navy musicians and music director of SEMAR GMV8.
“The music that I just heard shows that the navy not only protects and preserves the integrity of the nation, but also that it is here to delight us”, expressed Laura Ofelia Marquez Sandoval, school teacher of the state of Zacatecas and guest as observer of the non-governmental organizations for COP16.
The GMV8 will be present at the Climate Change Village as well.
